Referral Information.
I provide occupational therapy for adult women whose daily-life, health-management or work capacity has become difficult, unsafe or unsustainable in the context of complex and often overlapping health needs.
This information is for Clinical Specialists and Insurance providers.

My assessment considers the interaction between a woman’s health presentation and the real demands of her everyday life. Depending on the referral question, this may include:
Current capacity for self-care, domestic tasks, meal preparation, mobility, appointments, community access, relationships, caregiving, and health-management activities.
Energy envelope, activity patterns, recovery needs, symptom triggers, post-exertional impacts, and pacing capacity.
Cognitive demands, executive-function load, planning, organisation, task initiation, decision fatigue and cognitive endurance.
Sensory processing, environmental demands, sensory overload, communication demands and social fatigue.
Autonomic symptoms, positional tolerance, travel tolerance, rest needs and strategies to reduce orthostatic load.
The fit between current capacity and pre-injury, current, or proposed work demands.
Workplace, study, home and community environmental barriers and potential adjustments.
Strengths, interests, roles, values, supports, risk factors, and conditions needed for sustainable participation.
-
Referrals may be appropriate when a woman:
Has fluctuating, complex, or difficult-to-predict functional capacity.
Is experiencing repeated boom-and-bust patterns, post-exertional symptom exacerbation, or worsening symptoms after routine activity, appointments, travel, or work demands.
Has not sustained an attempted return to work, study, usual roles, or independent daily living.
Experiences fatigue, orthostatic symptoms, pain, sensory overload, cognitive fatigue, executive-function challenges, sleep disruption, emotional overwhelm, or health-management demands that interfere with daily function.
Has autistic burnout, neurodivergent burnout, chronic illness-related role disruption, or a mismatch between demands and available capacity.
Requires an occupationally focused understanding of capacity across home, self-care, community, relationships, health management, and work.
Needs practical pacing, energy-conservation, sensory, cognitive, routine, environmental, or workplace-adjustment strategies.
Requires coordinated communication between the client, treating team, rehabilitation provider, workplace, and insurer, with informed consent.
Needs an independent OT perspective on barriers, supports, and realistic progression towards sustainable participation.
